Summer Row will above all provide the first major new addition of retail space into the city for many years, attracting new shoppers, new businesses and many new retailers. Upon completion, Summer Row will add 600,000 sq ft of additional leisure and retail space to the Wolverhampton retail core and will move Wolverhampton up the retail hierarchy from 53rd to 42nd putting Wolverhampton on a par with cities like Bath, York and Hull. Wolverhampton currently has a reasonable, generally middle market retail offer, but the provision is somewhat fragmented with currently only one department store in the city. The retail offer will be greatly strengthened by the addition of Debenhams. The new schemes provides the opportunity to introduce to the city the new large store formats required by national and international retailers in stores of between 5,000 and 25,000 sq ft. The introduction of up to 85 new shops in a quality environment will create a critical mass and interest, to attract other new names to the city. The Summer Row development has a total current Retail Centre Goods (RCG) spend of £143m in 2005 (CACI) and post-development retail potential is currently 20.4% with a total catchment uplift of 26.3% after completion (CACI). Summer Row will take full advantage of this catchment by offering a superb lifestyle investment, whether you're shopping, dining or just simply living. You can be a part of Wolverhampton like you've never seen it before.
